Coaches
Our coaches bring real competitive experience, including NCAA, NAIA and wrestling traditions from coast to coast. Practices are structured, technical, and demanding. We focus on fundamentals, position, conditioning, and teaching athletes how to compete the right way. The standard is high, and the expectation is simple "CAN-I" Constant and Never-Ending Improvement. All coaches are certified with USA Wrestling Leader Memberships

Nick Simeti
Product of the esteemed wrestling traditions of New York and New Jersey. As a former four-year varsity starter at Plymouth State University, Coach Simeti excelled, securing top-eight finishes at the North East Regional Tournament for two consecutive years. With a passion for both wrestling and public health, Coach Simeti now leads the Bellevue High School wrestling program while making impactful contributions to epidemiology at the United States Veteran Affairs.
- Four-year varsity starter for Plymouth State University NCAA Division III.
- Placed top eight at 157lbs in North East Regional Tournament two consecutive years.
- Achieved Academic All-American and All-NEWA honors in 2018.
- 2025 KingCo and WA Coach of the Year
- Assistant wrestling coach at Plymouth State University from 2018 to 2022.

Calvin Cai
A two time NWCA Scholar All American and 2025 NCAA Region V sixth place finisher at 149 pounds. Calvin excelled in college earning UAA All Academic and CSC Academic All District honors. A four year varsity wrestler and two year captain at Henry M. Gunn High School, he was Team MVP, a Central Coast Section placer, and a 2019 USA Wrestling 16U Nationals qualifier. Calvin works as a software engineer at Amazon.

Sonny Shin
Sonny Shin is a 1997 Newport High School grad & has been involved with NHS Wrestling since 1993, where he wrestled under Hall of Fame Coach Darren Sipe. He enjoys passing on his knowledge & experiences, as well as learn from the younger wrestlers. Currently, Sonny works as an attorney. He enjoys wrestling, martial arts, & making art projects in his free time.

Edgar Crespi
Edgar Crespi is a former NCAA Division I wrestler at Hofstra University, where he trained in one of the nation’s premier collegiate wrestling environments. During his time at Hofstra, he competed and developed under nationally recognized Division I coaching leadership and trained alongside high-level NCAA competitors, building a technical foundation rooted in disciplined hand fighting, positional dominance, and mat control.
